St. Patrick Church - Mount Sterling at 139 West Main Street, Mount Sterling, KY 40353 US - Home

Early records indicate that there were Catholic Masses celebrated as early as 1846 in Mount Sterling, but the first parish was formally established in 1868.  At that time, a house purchased by Father Lambert Willie on East Main Street served as the Catholic church.  It was not long before the congregation outgrew this building, prompting Father Patrick Jones to secure a larger location.  St. Patrick Catholic Church was built in 1882 on the site of the old Drake Cotton Factory on West Main Street, which had been destroyed by John Morgan and his Confederate Raiders during the Civil War.  The church still stands there today.

Our church is part of the Diocese of Lexington. Here you can learn more about our parish such as our Mass times, Staff Directory and Phone Numbers, and view an online Map with driving directions. You can even stay informed about our Diocese by reading regularly published information, announcements, and news articles. We hope you enjoy your visit, and encourage you to bookmark this page and add to your favorites folder for easy future reference.

Did you know that the word "catholic" means "universal"?  Come and bring your questions about the Catholic faith.

Maybe you were born and raised in the Catholic faith, a "cradle" Catholic, and you want to deepen your understanding of what the Church teaches and why she teaches it.  Perhaps at this time in your life,  you are interested in growing in your relationship with God through Jesus Christ .   Classes begin on Wednesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  Any and all are welcome!  Bring an open heart and mind--and even bring a friend!   If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith in a small group setting, come and join us as we share and grow in our faith together.
